Aesop Fragrant Fables: Meet the New Fragrance Collection Turning Scent Into Story

There are fragrances you wear, and then there are fragrances that give you something to think about.

With Aesop Fragrant Fables, the Melbourne-founded brand brings together two of its longstanding obsessions: fragrance and literature. The new collection transforms Aesop's aromatic world into a series of fable-like stories, pairing botanical ingredients with narratives about trust, authenticity, resilience, curiosity and reinvention.

The Aesop Fragrant Fables Collection launches in Malaysia from 1 September 2026, marking a new chapter in the brand's fragrance story.

And while the collection is rooted in scent, the idea behind it goes much further.

When Aesop Fragrance Becomes a Story

Twenty years ago, Aesop introduced its first personal fragrance, Marrakech. Today, its fragrance collection spans 12 Eaux de Parfum, including familiar names such as Tacit Truths, Evoking Eidesis and Entirely Aurner.

For Fragrant Fables, Aesop takes inspiration from its namesake — the ancient Greek fabulist — and reimagines the stories behind its fragrances as modern fables.

Each fragrance comes with a short narrative that explores a particular value or question, encouraging the wearer to look beyond the scent itself.

It is a distinctly Aesop approach to perfume: thoughtful, unexpected and not particularly interested in following the crowd.

Evoking Eidesis: A Fragrance About Authenticity

Evoking Eidesis explores the idea of looking beyond what is immediately visible.

Its Radical Ingredient is Sandalwood, paired with a Fabulist Accord of Neroli, Petitgrain and Black Pepper to evoke the idea of a mirror.

The fragrance's accompanying fable considers the difference between simply seeing a reflection and understanding what lies beneath it — making authenticity the heart of the story.

The question:What lies beyond surface reflections?

Tacit Truths: A Fragrance About Trust

Fresh, green and quietly expressive, Tacit Truths places Basil at the centre of its composition.

Its Radical Ingredient is complemented by a Fabulist Accord of Yuzu Accord, Vetiver and Fennel, inspired by the idea of first light — consistent, reassuring and quietly illuminating.

The accompanying fable considers trust as something that is built through consistency rather than grand gestures.

The question:How can trust illuminate our connections?

Unforeseen Aer: A New Chapter for Aesop Fragrance

The newest addition to the collection, Unforeseen Aer Eau de Parfum, takes inspiration from the idea that disruption and imperfection can create unexpected possibilities.

Its Radical Ingredient is Nutmeg, contrasted with a Fabulist Accord of Geranium, Lavandin and Rosemary, conjuring the sensation of pure air moving across rugged heights. The result is Aesop's nonconformist interpretation of a classic fougère fragrance.

At the centre of its fable is a gentle wind that initially fears the disruption it might cause, before learning to embrace the chaos it creates.

The question:How can change enrich us?

And Then, There Are the Other Fragrant Fables

The collection extends beyond these three fragrances, with each Eau de Parfum carrying its own botanical signature and story.

Eternal Karst explores resilience through Juniper, Calone, Sage and Pink Pepper, while Above Us, Steorra considers chance through Cardamom, Frankincense, Labdanum and Vanilla Bean. Rozu Arises turns to Rose and the idea of growth, while Boundless Erémia explores freedom through earthy Tomato Leaf.

Elsewhere, Seeking Virēre considers kindness, Silently, Hwyl explores serenity, Journey to Ouranon reflects on reinvention, Marrakech Intense follows curiosity, and Entirely Aurner embraces boldness and the power of defying convention.
Together, they form a collection that feels less like a traditional fragrance wardrobe and more like a library of scents — each one offering a different atmosphere, idea and question.

The Bottle Gets a New Chapter, Too

The Fragrant Fables collection also introduces an updated take on Aesop's instantly recognisable amber bottle.

The new design keeps the brand's minimalist aesthetic but introduces a domed base, taller silhouette and textured cap inspired by Basalt rock, a material found widely around Melbourne, where Aesop was founded.

The fragrance name appears in metallic amber text, while an insignia is embossed onto the glass and debossed onto the cap.

Even the practical details have been considered: the atomiser is now easier to remove, making the bottle more readily recyclable.

Aesop Fragrant Fables Malaysia Launch

The Aesop Fragrant Fables Collection will be available in Malaysia from 1 September 2026.

The new Unforeseen Aer Eau de Parfum will follow with its own Malaysia launch on 1 October 2026.
For anyone who sees fragrance as more than simply something to spritz before leaving the house, Fragrant Fables offers a different proposition: scent as a starting point for curiosity.

Because sometimes, the most interesting thing about a perfume isn't what it smells like.

It's what it makes you wonder.
